Fabulous February
Despite concerns about the weather the intrepid Seacoast Modern Quilt Guild
met again!
- · We approved the minutes from January.
- · Voted to amend our bylaws
- · Treasurer, Bethany gave a report on our funds,
and details about retreat payments due (can be extended to 1/15) Room rates are the same as last year see
Retreat tab for details.
- · We received a form from Diane to select the
years activities.
- · Diane made a presentation of the new Lottery
Block: Disappearing Arrows, see Blocks and Challenges Tab, and a couple of
pointers on the Snap Bag Marylee showed us in January.
Ongoing
We
assembled our color studies for Kinship challenge on a board:
Show and tell
Bethany
shows her quilt of many streets: Streets are listed chronologically from
bottom up
No rhyme or reason to the R on the back — just trying to use up an
extra block
And it is even more interesting the closer you look
Kate had limited planning abilities last month so she just worked
with scraps. Outcome a History apron.
Many quilts from her first to her last, and backed with a shirt
project from family vacation.
Patty’s hands haven’t been up to quilting lately but she showed us her knitting project. Warmth in the making!
And Paula showed us her Matchbox quilt from Moda (yellow and
white, w/ red/orange binding) Small, but look at the beautiful finish!
We also mentioned our favorite places for fabrics:
Fat Quarter Shop — flash
sale on Tuesdays
Fabric bubb — has all
the Kona fabric colors in stock at all time
Connecting Threads —
lots of their stuff is made in U.S.
Sewfisticated —
Somerville, Dorchester
Fabric.com — the more
you buy, the lower the prices
Hawthorne Supply — AGF —
good quality, with a good sale section
Stash Fabrics
