SMQG September 2021 meeting minutes

·           October UFO Guild Challenge Reminder: October 2nd

Judging Categories:

o   Best Use of Color

o   Oldest UFO

o   People’s Choice

·           Carolina Oneto’s “Organic Shapes” Virtual Zoom Workshop:

o   November 6th 10am – 12:30pm (2.5 to 3 hours)

o   Cost: $30 per person.

Call for Officer Nominations at the October Meeting with Ballot Vote at November Meeting.

Show & Tell:

Diane: Shared her Exeter Game Board Medallion Art Guild inspired by a Guild’s past Round Robin project. In addition, she shared her latest Peace & Love BOMs’ in beautiful neutral fabric colors designed using Spoonflower.

Suzanne: Shared her gorgeous “Dear Diary Quilt” designed by Anna Maria Horner. Suzanne challenged herself taking Anna Maria’s 14 Day BOD Creative Bug Class focused on color theory and hand applique in the block’s designed. This was a sneak for the Guild’s UFO Challenge

Kate Q: Shared insights on fabric she is designing on Spoonflower including information on the design process with the use of “Hex Codes” for colors on the site.

Barb B: Shared the latest Woodland Double Gauze baby blanket for new grandson Ashton’s arrival on August 26th.

Program: Barbara M. presented Photo Quilt Workshop walking the design process from converting a photo with the use of Portrait App to create the pattern, fabric selections to capture light to dark shading, sewing the blocks together to quilting and tips to completing the project. The discussion was engaging with many tips shared amongst the group.
