Raffle Quilt:
The
raffle quilt was discussed. Patty requested that anyone who haven’t received
their tickets to sell, please notify her and they will be mailed out to them. Members were asked at the September meeting to
sell at least 10 tickets.
Information sharing took place where Mary O spoke about Quilting Arts Magazine which is a great publication and it’s free for 30 days. Marylee informed us that her local library has a subscription and suggested members check with their local libraries and review it.
Mary O. informed the membership that the Modern Quilt Guild website has virtual classes in October and they can register now for $95.00. The virtual classes have multiple teachers for example Jo Avery and Karen Lewis.

Quilt Con 2023 came up in discussion. Patty attempted to register the Anniversary Quilt as a community submission because the deadline is October 31st but needed the Seacoast Modern Quilt Guild’s password. It was suggested that the guild secretary could register our submission.
The business meeting closed and under the direction of Brenda S., the members began creating strip quilts for Project Linus. The sewing session ended with an estimate of 30 completed blocks.

Committee updates were discussed as follows:
Patty C. updated the members on the Board meeting regarding membership dues. The board voted to reinstate the $50.00 fee for 2023.
The raffle quilt ticket sales was discussed. In order to raise additional funds for the raffle quilt, members were informed that the board voted to have members sell a minimum of 10 tickets each. Tickets were distributed by Barb B.
Patty C. continued to discuss open board positions. The open positions are open for 2023 – President, Vice President, and potentially the Treasurer’s position.
Barb M. noted the Treasurer’s Report had no major expenses and will report the balance via email.
Patty
C. volunteered to chair the Retreat that is scheduled for April 27th
to April 30, 2023.
Workshops
& Future Activities were discussed to take place in 2023 to include Fabric
Dying, Noodlehead Totes. It was recommended that fabric dying could take place
at the retreat or to have it take place instead of a regular meeting. Due to the fact that not all members attend
the retreat the majority of the members wanted the workshop to take place at a
regularly scheduled Saturday and not conduct the meeting. Patty C. asked that Diane and Marylee work on
organizing the workshop in January.
Patty C. continued to update the members on the future meeting locations and monthly activities for the balance of 2022.
October’s meeting will take place at the Marty E. Bartlet Library, 22 Dalton Rd, Brentwood, NH. The monthly activity will a sew in for Charity Quilts. Meeting space is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
November’s meeting will take place at the Wiggin Memorial Library, 10 Bunker Hill Ave, Stratham, NH. The monthly activity is pending. The meeting space is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. till noon.
December’s
meeting will take place at the Kingston Community Library, 2 Library Ln,
Kingston, NH. The monthly activity is
the guild’s holiday party. The meeting
will include a holiday swap and a game of Left, Right, Center. Patty C. requested that Diane and Marylee
come up with ideas for the holiday swap.
The meeting space is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Patty continued on to address the guild’s participation in Quilt Con 2023. Since the guidelines were issued by the Modern Quilt Guild in June of 2022, and the summer meetings were cancelled, the members felt that the deadlines for submission were not realistic. It was suggested that a small group of members may want to gather to see if they could pull it together and commitment to the Modern Quilt Guild between September 1st to October 31st, 2022. Diane S. suggested that we submit our 10 year anniversary quilt and all agreed it was a great idea.
The meeting continued with the charity fabric that was donated to our guild. There were six full bins to distribute to the guild members. Patty requested that if you take any fabric that you donate a completed quilt of any size to the Charity Committee. The donated quilt could be with any fabric. There was a large amount of fabric that was left over. It will be brought to the October meeting for the Charity Sew In. Donna C. and Theresa H took the remainder of the boxes to bring to the October meeting.
